Hyundai Motor has won a landslide victory at the 2021 Auto Express New Car Awards, winning six prestigious awards including the IONIQ 5 Electric Car of the Year. “Premium Electric Vehicle” and won the award for best design. In addition, the Auto Express experts awarded the Hyundai Tucson in the Midsize Crossover category and the Hyundai i20N in the Hot Hatchback category.
The annual Auto Express Car Awards have been presented since 1993. Any model sold in the UK is eligible to enter the competition. The cars are judged by an experienced jury of Auto Express journalists headed by editor-in-chief Steve Fowler.

At the heart of the futuristic Hyundai IONIQ 5 is the innovative E-GMP Global Modular Electric Vehicle Platform, which delivers faster charging, extended range, superior handling and more interior space. The IONIQ 5 not only revolutionizes sustainable mobility, but also offers the owner an interior that provides a whole new experience. What’s more, the new IONIQ 5 electric vehicle makes extensive use of environmentally friendly materials such as eco-leather and recycled fabrics.
The Hyundai IONIQ 5 is offered with a range of electric powertrains, as well as rear- and all-wheel drive versions.
The car is able to recharge the charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes, accelerate from standstill to 100 km / h in just 5.2 seconds and travel up to 480 km on a single charge.
In addition to winning the Car of the Year, Midsize Corporate Vehicle and Premium Electric Vehicle categories, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 was also voted for its revolutionary design by Auto Express readers. Appearance IONIQ 5 is associated with the car Hyundai Pony – the first production model of the company. At the same time, IONIQ 5 is characterized by the freedom that a dedicated platform for electric vehicles gives it, and interior design in the Living Space concept with a flat floor and special seats that can deviate to a certain angle. These solutions provide the highest level of comfort and functionality for the first time in this vehicle segment.
The benefits of Hyundai’s range were also demonstrated by the Tucson, which won the Auto Express team’s award in the Midsize Crossover category. The motorsport-inspired Hyundai i20N’s refined handling left no doubt after triumphing over incredibly strong competitors in the Hot Hatch category. “The Hyundai N badge is fast becoming a must-have accessory for fast-paced riders,” said Auto Express. “The new i20N is a real pleasure, a hot hatch that you will always be happy with.
